In Sidney, there is a sizable Lebanese community. People aren't happy about members of it behaving like gangsers, and harrassing women. However, yesterday, the raccist whites got involved and turned tis disagreement into a civil war. Innocent girls had to seak refuge in a police station, a man was beaten unconcious right in front of reporters. Racist chants were heard by these white people who behaved like the people they were protesting about, hurling beer bottles at police and attacked police vehicles. They were apparently drunk. It's the main news item in Autralia, yet the word media doesn't seem to be giving it much attention. This may change, especially if the violence esculates. I have heard many perspectives on this situation, but I was wondering what Australians and people outside the country thought of this and what they think about how things can move forward. There are obviously criminals on both sides attacking each community. I think that all of this could have been prevented if the more right-minded people who were of Lebanese origin and of white origin had admitted there was a problem early on and confronted it rather than allow tentions to build up to this point. By allowing things to reach this stage, they have played into the hands of the criminals because they now have reasons. Australia will be worse than France was, because bot sides are intent on beating each other and anyone who has the wrong ski colour.
